All Done

I have finished everything and I am SO proud. I'm so glad I've been able to finish and I've learned so much throughout the course of the project and to be honest, I'm kind of impressed. I'm so happy that I don't have to worry about this for my transplant tomorrow and I can just focus on getting better. Well, it's been a hell of a ride, thanks for listening:).

So Close to the Finish Line!!

I'M ALMOST DONE! This whole thing is due on Monday and I'm almost DONE!! Just need to make a few finishing touches and complete my CCR!! Ok, I'll get back to work so I can finish everything done on time!(P.S. I wrote this a week ago but I forgot to publish it :'( )

Zoe Saved Me

ZOE HELPED ME FIND THE SAVED WORK ON PREMIERE!!!!! I owe her. I looked everywhere and I couldn't find it after talking to her for 3 minutes she told me to look in a specific folder and there it was. When I'm done with this project I have to get her a present  or something. She's helped me so much. THIS IS AMAZING!! I WON'T HAVE TO DO EVERYTHING OVER AGAIN.

You know how before I said that Premiere Pro hates me? You probably thought I was being dramatic. Well my entire music video has just been deleted. Yep. Hours of work has just gone down the drain. I was more than halfway done with the video. I honestly thought I would be able to finish it today. But no. Premiere has other plans for me. Which would be fine, if it didn't cause me to lose hours of work.

So I went to Anish's house to finish filming the last few shots I need for the revised party scene and I think it went really well. I got a bunch of cool shots and I think that's all I need to finish the video.

The Setup:

1 Everything was pushed to one side to give us room to film. 2 Lights shining on the wall

3 Smoke detector covered

He set up the room with lights so we could get a silhouette of him while he was singing the song. We wanted to show the light as seen in the video(Anish's idea) but I couldn't find my smoke machine so Anish improvised and tried to do it with matches. It kind of worked but not enough to get cool shots of him with the lights.

Website

I just published my website! It's far from done but at least now I've sort of committed to a design. I linked it to this post so it'll be easy to find.

Digipak

I'm almost done with my Digipak!!! I only need one more big image but I already have the design in motion.

I labeled each image with where they will be placed. To see where each number is placed you can see what I uploaded to posts ago. This has really made me feel better about my work and the stuff I've done up to this point. I've been using nature shots mostly because of the color scheme but also because I want to keep his image as natural and comfortable as possible.

Filming Issues Again

    I was supposed to film the party scene yesterday but Anish was supposed to get people to go and he wasn't able to get anyone. What I'll do instead then is just get shots of them with low-key lighting to create the same vibe that the party scene would have had.

    I have a smoke machine that I'll use to represent the night life that will also be conveyed through the use of laser lights.
    Honestly, I'm like super stressed out about this project and I just feel really lost about the whole thing. *insert violin music here* I kind of feel cheated of the opportunity the rest of the class has to get their project reviewed by peers so early on in the process. I mean, I know it's because of the transplant that I'm about to have, but it still kind of sucks that I had to work on this project while still doing other projects for the same class.l Oh well, pity party over.

DigiPak Planing

I started planning the DigiPak. I want to make it different and kind of interactive. I want it to seem personal and truly reflect his heritage and his music.

To explain the image, the numbers mean each separate picture. The whole Digipak will be folded to hold the CD and the booklet that has the images of Anish to make the whole thing more personal.

Starting Over

Premiere Pro keeps malfunctioning and I don't understand why. Every problem I have is different than the last and I just lost 2 hours of work so I have to do it all over again.I'm just so sad and I don't want to edit this video. I really don't like working with videos. I'm so much better at print projects. I kind of wish there had been a print option when we chose all of our projects but I'm glad I chose the music video over the other options.

This box popped up in place of my video clips and I'm really confused as to why since I have all of the video clips saved on my laptop and that's where I uploaded them all from. Oh well, back to work I guess. Hopefully it doesn't happen again.

Logo

I tried a few logo ideas that I thought I could use for Anish. I didn't have many ideas so I just played with the few that I had. Here are the options:

I like the AG for Anish Ghosh and I like the idea of incorporating a guitar since that is his main instrument. I also kind of like the AH. I just don't think any of these are really what I'm looking for. maybe I've been staring at them for too long, I'll wait a day and look at them again to decide if I like any of them or not.

Premiere Pro

It's official, Premiere Pro HATES me. I tried putting my video clips on premiere to start editing about a week ago and it inverted all of my footage. I had to close the program and I've just run into problem after problem. This happens every time I use premiere to edit video but I don't know of any alternative I can use on a windows computer. I've been going on YouTube to find all the different tutorials and so far that has been helping me move along with the editing. I've also been getting help form Zoe since she's so good at editing and has been doing this for such a long time.

I've reviewed the clips and as of now the only shots I need are the ones of the party scene. I'll finish everything by Friday so I know exactly what I need from the party.

Pictures

It kind of feels like Premiere Pro has it out for me. I've already encountered some problems so I've decided to work on the website and digipak some more. They're coming along really well but I feel like some more pictures would be good to have a lot of variety. I guess I'll set up a shooting day with Anish to get some studio shots since I already have nature/environment pics.

Filming Day

I filmed most of the music video yesterday! We got a lot of good shots of Anish and DH Valentino singing their parts. Mickey didn't show up so I don't know if I should try to set up a day to film him too because I'm already kind of behind schedule and I just want to move forward. I might be able to include him in the party scene if he shows up for it since that's when he has a large role in the song. I'm gonna start editing the video with Premiere Pro. Hopefully I have everything I need. 

I've also been ignoring the website a bit so I'm going to get on that.

Promo Stuff

I was able to shoot some pictures yesterday and I talked to Anish to try to get to know him better so I can accurately portray him. I started editing one image and I think I want to have it be a poster for the album. I feel like I can incorporate this poster into my digipak but I have to do some research first to make sure that's a good idea.

 

I've also looked up some examples of digipaks and I'm drawn to the ones that have multiple parts and are a bit complicated/different. Below are some examples of ideas I've been thinking of incorporating into the digipak.

The overall theme of the promotional products as well as the album and website is natural, vibrant colors. I really think this will go well with the vibe Anish gives off which is very laid back but also very present.

Shooting Canceled

So my rappers canceled on me at the last minute and everyone isn't available until next Sunday so I'm set back another week. Tomorrow I'm meeting with Anish to shoot pictures for the website and Digipak. I really hope I can get everything done in time.

Filming Today

Today I'm shooting the scenes that are outside in the suburbs. We're going to try to get the fun summer laid-back vibe for most of the music video, other than the party scenes. I'm not sure if I already explained this but I'm going to make the whole video slow motion and use editing techniques to create a sense of disorientation throughout the video. I couldn't find any examples of what I have planned. I have everything ready:

• Lawn chairs
• A cooler
• A guitar
• Lemonade
• Glasses
• Ice

So now all I have to do is shoot! I'll write about how it goes when I'm done.

Website Research

For my website I don't want to go the usual hip hop artist route. I want to use pastel and natural colors and light tones for the website. I've taken inspiration from the following artists' websites: Simone Grossman, Norah Jones, and Regina Spektor. I want to use the same techniques to make the viewer feel connected to the artist. Anish will be predominantly featured on the website along with any concert dates and album/song releases. I want to show that Anish is a down to earth guy that truly cares about his music.

Ideas and examples

I have a few examples of the vibe and look that I want to present in my video. This video is an example of the laid back vibe I'm going for:

This video has the calm vibe but it isn't very artistic and I want to go a step further to confuse the audience.

The use of lighting in the club scenes is what I want to use for my party scenes I would also try to use lens flares and effects like those present in the video I posted a while ago.

I've also tried to come up with ideas for the promotional material. At the moment I only have one strange idea with some double exposures but I'll wait for a later post to talk about that.

Story boarding

I was having a really hard time story boarding but I went to the park today to clear my head and I came up with a few good ideas:

• Make the whole video in slow motion
• Quick cuts between each scene
• 4 main characters
• Use effects and lighting to make part of the video seem very trippy
• Use props to go for a laid back feel throughout most of the video

I have a lot of shots that I know I want to put throughout my video but it isn't very organized. So I know what I want to film, I just don't know what order it'll be in.

So right after I finished typing the last post, I asked Anish if he was free tomorrow for a photo shoot and as I asked him, I dropped milk on my laptop. Good news though, Anish is free!! So I asked him some questions and he gave me some good info. 

I think I know the direction I'm gonna go in with this shoot. It'll be outside before sunset and he should wear blueish colors. I know a place that is secluded and would be perfect because it is the only place that has actual trees as opposed to everywhere else in Weston. I've taken pictures there before and I have an example:

I'm much calmer now so this is (actually) all for today. :)

First Day of my Project

Today is my official start date!! This is what I have:

• A musician
• A song
• A website(started)

This is what I don't have:

• An idea for a music video
• Any idea how I'm going to take good portraits of someone I barely know
• A clue to the third aspect of this project(gotta ask stoklosa tomorrow)

I wish art was easy. I mean, I have to think of the outfit, and the lighting, and location, and composition, and angles, and how it'll work with his overall aesthetic. And that's just for the photos. I also need to get an idea for what to do for the music video and also start story boarding. I'm so stressed out that I just misspelled "start" six times, there aren't even six letters in the word! It also doesn't help that on top of this, I have to do my marketing project with Daniel and Dakota. But, I'm gonna be positive and believe I can do this. I just have to work hard and PLAN. That's it for today, I'm gonna look for questions to ask Anish that will unfold the inner workings of his mind so I can take pictures that truly represent him tomorrow.

I found someone willing to help me!!!

I finally found an Artist willing to help me with the project!! Don't get me wrong, I didn't wait to the last minute to find a musician/band for my video, it's just that the person I had lined up backed out at the last minute. Anyway, Anish has agreed to help me with my project as a solo artist. Now I have to start researching his genre(hip hop and rap) and plan the music video. I really want to do a good job with this project so I'm really glad that I'm ahead schedule.
You can listen to the song Anish wrote that I'm making the video for here. Since Anish's genre is hip hop and rap, I will not be drawing inspiration from the song in my last post but I'm really exited to find other videos to be inspired by.

I mentioned in my last post that I had to find out when I have to start my project. Because the Acanthamoeba Keratitis parasite sucks, I'm starting my project 1/22/18 and ending 3/19/18. I made a google calendar with my goals for this project that you can access through the link.

Pre-Research Research

I haven't officially started my music video or the research for it but this whole thing has been hanging over my head for a while so I decided I'd start little by little. I want to make a calendar so I can have deadlines for everything to make sure I have everything done with some time to spare to fix up any rough edges. I have to find out when I'm supposed to start my project so I know what time frame I'm working with.

I remembered a music video that I saw a really long time ago for a song by Regina Spektor. I really like the effect the cloth has at 1:50. I like the color and video effects that follow.

I'm just gonna leave this here so I can look back when I forget this video even exists.
